MORE than 100 people took the opportunity to discuss local hospitals in a meeting of the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.
Trust chairman Sukhdev Sharma told the meeting at Bertie’s Banqueting Rooms in Elland that it had been a “busy, challenging and exciting year” for the Trust.
He also took time to pay tribute to the hard work of staff and volunteers, in particular the efforts of the League of Friends who help to raise funds for the hospitals in the Trust.
The meeting was told of many capital investments made in 2007/8 including £3.4m in the new pharmacy manufacturing unit at Acre Mill in Huddersfield.
The meeting also heard that the £3.95m surplus in the 2007/8 accounts would be used to improve facilities.
The Trust’s Membership Council, who are elected by patient and public members of the trust, outlined the work to improve services over the past year, including tasting hospital food, monitoring levels of cleanliness and recruiting new members.
