AN exhibition of art and music has gone on show at Huddersfield Art Gallery.

It includes 13 large portraits taken by photographer Lizzie Coombes as part of the year-long Playing The Map project in local schools.

They show children and parents from Royds Hall High School, Paddock Junior Infant and Nursery School, Spring Grove Junior Infant and Nursery School at Springwood, Cowlersley Primary School and Crow Lane Junior Infant and Nursery School at Milnsbridge.

The Playing The Map project involved work with musician Hugh Nankivell and students from Huddersfield University's music department.

They created pictures and music based around the theme of their homes and families.

Lizzie Coombes' portraits are decorated with text written by the participants and a musical collage of the songs they created is playing in the gallery.

The exhibition runs until July 15 and is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.

You can also hear the songs created during the Playing The Map project at a public performance at the university's St Paul's Hall on June 21 at 7.30pm.
