A DISGRACED former MP has been hit with a massive legal bill.
David Chaytor, who served on Calderdale Council in the 1980s, was yesterday ordered to pay court costs of more than £46,000.
The former Bury North MP was landed with the bill at Southwark Crown Court.
Chaytor, of Lumbutts in Todmorden, was sentenced to 18 months in jail in January after pleading guilty to false accounting totalling £18,350.
The 62-year-old Labour man was released after five months under the home detention curfew scheme.
Chaytor represented Todmorden on Calderdale Council in the 1980s and stood for Calder Valley in the 1987 and 1992 general elections, finishing second both times.
