WEATHER watchers have confirmed last month was Huddersfield’s wettest June in nine years.
But meteorologists at Huddersfield University say the town experienced only a third of the rainfall (66mm) which fell in the floods of June 2007 (196mm).
And while 18 days escaped rainfall, 35mm fell on Thursday 26, making it the fourth wettest June day since the School of Applied Science’s records began in 1990.
Last month was the coolest June since 2001 with an average temperature of 15°C.
The highest temperature was 24.6°C on Sunday 8 and the lowest was 6.8°C on Friday 20.
While June 2008 experienced generally gentle winds with an average of 12km/h, the highest gust was recorded at 104.76km/h on Sunday 22.
