A SPECIAL wood carving will be unveiled to mark the 25th anniversary of Overgate Hospice at Elland.
The £50,000 panel, depicting 41 scenes of life in Calderdale, is similar to one at Kirkwood Hospice at Dalton.
The work was completed on February 1 by members of the West Riding Woodcarvers' Association.
Secretary John Murphy said: "We wanted to recognise the outstanding work that Overgate Hospice does and also make people aware that woodcarving is flourishing in West Yorkshire."
The timber panel includes depictions of the M62, rushbearing at Sowerby Bridge and the Brighouse Industrial Society.
The 9ft by 3ft 6in panel will be unveiled to association members on March 7 at Meltham Golf Club before going on display at Halifax Town Hall from March 14 to 24.
After that it will hang at the hospice's entrance.
The new panel is the fourth to be made by the association.
Members have also carved pieces for Kirkwood Hospice, Wakefield Hospice and Kirklees's French twin town, Besancon.
