FAITHS leader Kiran Bali, pictured, has become the leader of a global organisation.

Ms Bali, who heads the Huddersfield Interfaith Council, has been appointed as chairman of the international United Religions Initiative.

The organisation, based in San Francisco, California, claims to be the world’s biggest grassroots interfaith organisation.

Kiran, a Huddersfield magistrate, hopes to increase the reach of the organisation in her new role.

Ms Bali has received numerous honours for her interfaith and voluntary work including an OBE in 2008.
