Christmas shoppers looking to save a few pounds on their festive shop have been warned about a fake 40% voucher hoax - after Aldi bosses raised concerns about fake vouchers circulating on social media.

They put out a warning saying posts, being shared on social media by Facebook users, contained fraudulent vouchers that can't be redeemed at any of its UK stores.

They have advised customers not to give any personal details or enter a competition, which claims to be one of the ways of obtaining the fake voucher.

The scam is currently being investigated by supermarket bosses, the Manchester Evening News has reported.
