A PAIR of peregrines will be one of the big attractions for visitors to Dovestone over the summer.

From Saturday, RSPB staff and volunteers at the beauty spot near Greenfield will be manning a special viewpoint kitted out with powerful telescopes and binoculars so visitors can watch the spectacular birds of prey in all their glory above the reservoir.

The birds have been resident at the site for at least 15 years.

Peregrines are the fastest animals in the world when in a dive and have been recorded at speeds of over 200 miles an hour.

Dave O’Hara, Dovestone site manager, said: “The wild beauty of Dovestone is a perfect setting within which to watch these magnificent birds in action.”
