A FORMER Corrie heartthrob is joining forces with a Where The Heart Is star to open an acting school in Huddersfield.

Scott Wright, who played stripper and mechanic Sam Kingston in the popular ITV1 soap, has teamed up with Danny Seward to launch a weekly night school for budding actors of all ages.

The 31-week course, called Screen Presence, will start in Huddersfield this September.

Scott and Danny, who played the part of Joe Beresford in the hit ITV1 drama filmed in the Colne Valley, will lead the sessions.

The course will give students the chance to learn acting skills for theatre, film and television while working alongside actors working in the business.

They will pick up tips on confidence building and learn how to use their acting talents in technical settings where they are cameras. It will end with the students making showreels of their work to send to showbiz agents and directors.

They will also take part in a live performance.

Scott, 32, who is due to marry Brighouse girl Kate Linsell in November, said: “Everywhere I go, I get a lot of people asking how to become an actor.

“I went to a lot of acting schools where nothing really happened but this will be different.

“There will be a full syllabus on how to act for film and TV, plus the experiences Danny and I have had as actors in the business.

“I’m sure there’s a lot of talent around here and hopefully we will be able to steer them in the right direction.”

The course is being run in 11 other locations around the north of England, including Halifax, Oldham, Warrington and Scott’s home town of Glossop.

Scott and Kate were in Huddersfield this week to find a suitable venue for the acting school, ahead of their wedding in November.

Scott, who has also starred in Emmerdale and Shameless, said: “We met on a night out in Manchester just over a year ago and got engaged at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

“We’re really looking forward to the wedding and eventually kids.”

Kate, a former Rastrick High School pupil, met the actor while studying at Salford University.

The 24-year-old now works as a personal trainer in Lancashire.
