A "FAME" academy, based in Almondbury, has celebrated its first anniversary.

Theatretrain was set up on November 9 last year at Almondbury High School.

It accepts children between the ages of six and 18 years on a Saturday morning and teaches them dance, drama and singing.

Theatretrain pupils appeared at The Palace Theatre, Manchester, in a production of Motown Magic, in June.

The school was one of six that performed in the show.

Students are now working towards the production of Scrooge - The Musical.

It is a 55-minute adaptation of the large-scale musical by Leslie Bricusse, based on Charles Dickens' perennial favourite, A Christmas Carol.

The production will be performed at The Civic Hall, New Street, Slaithwaite, on Saturday December 13, and Sunday December 14.

Emma Meads, a Theatretrain director, said: "This is an exceptional opportunity for any child.

"We never audition a child as everyone is welcome to join Theatretrain."
