Families enjoyed a day of fun in Holmfirth.

The fourth annual event was held at Cliff Recreation Ground.

It featured games, vintage tractors and music supplied by the Hade Edge Junior Band.

The popular dog show returned for a second year, together with a slow bicycle race in homage to the upcoming Le Tour.

Refreshments were provided by Holmfirth Scouts.

The fun day is organised by the Friends of Cliff Recreation Ground and included the unveiling of the Cliff Rec Heritage Seat which was funded by Kirklees and Holme Valley Parish Councils and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The seat incorporates information boards on the ecology and local history of the area.

It was designed and built by master dry stone waller John Ford.

A book, entitled It’s always windy up here - a short history of Cliff Rec was also launched.

The 80 page, illustrated booklet was written by Friends members Vivien Aizlewood and Deborah Wyles.

It includes sections on home and working life, music and sport, leisure and play and other topics.

Fun for all at the Cliff Rec event
