HUNDREDS of people turned out for the annual Dalton Gala.

From donkey rides to giant inflatable castles, there was something for all the family at the community event.

Organised by the Dalton Ward Committee Support Group, the event was intended to encourage a greater community spirit.

Mayor of Kirklees Clr Karam Hussain welcomed everyone to the event.

He said: “I am delighted to join this 2008 Dalton Gala.

“The organising committee support group have worked tirelessly to organise this event.

“I hope it will be a very memorable and enjoyable day for everyone attending.”

There were community stalls, rugby matches and games.

The Rev Ron Goddard led a service before a gospel choir entertained spectators who were enjoying the events.

It took place at the DRAM centre on Sunday afternoon.
