A FAMILY fled last night when vandals started a blaze outside their Hillhouse home.
The fire, started in a pile of rubbish, cut through gas pipes and sent flames shooting up a cavity wall of the house in Hillhouse Lane.
A young couple and their three children were evacuated and spent the night with relatives. Firefighters put out the rubbish blaze but had to wait for gas engineers to turn off the supply to deal with the blazing pipe.
