A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed in a crash while out riding with his father and brother.

The 20-year-old died after his 750cc Kawasaki ZXR was involved in a head-on crash with a Renault Scenic in Grange Moor at 7.15 last night.

The tragedy happened on Barnsley Road a few hundred yards from the Grange Moor roundabout.

The biker - who died at the scene - comes from Hipperholme, but has not been named.

He was riding away from Grange Moor towards Flockton and the Scenic was coming the other way.

A Mitsubishi Evo was going in the same direction as the bike and a Rover was going the same way as the Renault.

The Renault was being driven by a Grange Moor man in his 40s who suffered chest injuries and shock. He was not badly hurt.

The road was sealed off for several hours for police accident investigations at the scene.

* A four-week-old baby was in a car involved in a crash on the same road earlier in the day.

A Vauxhall Astra estate and a 7.5-tonne lorry were involved in the crash outside Flockton First School just after 1pm yesterday.

The car driver, a 33-year-old woman from Flockton, was shocked.

The baby was well strapped in and was unhurt.

The lorry driver, who comes from Dalton, was unhurt.
