A BIG-HEARTED widower has helped raise money for a medical unit where his wife was treated.
Douglas Taylor helped to raise £1,000 for the Greenlea Oncology Unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where his late wife, Janet, was treated this year.
Mr Taylor, from Mixenden, Halifax, said: “We are indebted to the staff for the care and compassion shown to Janet and ourselves. The doctors, nurses and all the team were wonderful; we cannot praise them enough.”
Mr Taylor’s son, Tony, who is a corporal in the RAF, took part in a sponsored mountain bike ride to raise cash for the unit and money was also received from family and friends.
Ward manager Chris Lord thanked the family on behalf of the unit.
He said: “We are overwhelmed with this donation and very grateful that the family have chosen to recognise us in this way.”
