A 98-YEAR-OLD man was forced to pay full fare on a bus in Halifax by a driver who would not accept he was a senior citizen.

Grandfather Jack Holland said other passengers were in uproar after he was refused the discount fare.

The pensioner said he was boarding the bus in the town centre when he noticed his pass was missing.

But the driver on the 574 Halifax to Midgley bus would not accept anything except the full £1.90 fare.

And Mr Holland, who walks with the help of sticks, said the man would not even consider taking his name and address to check later.

He said: "I felt horrible and I gave him a blast when I got off the bus.

"I don't want to see him again because I would just hit him with my stick."

Mr Holland, who lives in the village of Luddenden Foot, is still recovering from injuries he received in a serious road accident last year.

A spokesman for the First bus company said the matter was being investigated.

He offered his apologies to Mr Holland and agreed to refund his fare.
