HUNDREDS of mourners walked slowly behind a horse-drawn hearse as a father-of-three was laid to rest.

They were attending the funeral of 28-year-old Leigh Sedgwick in Huddersfield yesterday.

Leigh, from Bradley, died last Saturday, when his Subaru Impreza car smashed into a lamp-post on the roundabout near the Asda store in Bradford Road.

His three passengers escaped and are recovering.

A week-long vigil at the crash site ended when the hearse slowly drew up alongside a 15ft-high floral tribute.

After several minutes' reflection and only a quiet sobbing puncturing the silence, the mourners continued to Christ Church, Woodhouse. Many of the men wore black and the women wore white because they were Leigh's favourite colours.

Since Leigh - a well known local DJ known as Sedgy - died people have gathered at the crash site each day to pay their last respects.

One floral tribute attached to the lamp-post read: "You were the best DJ. A great friend. Thinking of you. RIP, Saj and Sam."

Also, flowers spelled out Leigh's name in big, red and white letters.

Police stopped traffic to let the procession make its way slowly down Bradford Road and to the church, where Leigh was buried.

He leaves three children, Jamia, Branden and Louis.

His parents, Alan Sedgwick and Lyn Dancaster, still live in Bradley, where Leigh grew up. Leigh also leaves sisters Samantha and Robyn, a step- sister Shelley and a brother, Thomas,
