VISITORS to a community farm learned about where their food comes from.
Stirley Farm, at Stirley Hill, opened its doors to the wider community
Brian Lavelle, Stirley Community Farm’s project manager, said: “After two-and-a- half years the project is really beginning to take shape.
“Our herd of beef shorthorn cattle is expanding, with seven new calves already this year and more on the way.
“Our wildflower meadows are beginning to bloom, providing a wonderful habitat for wildlife – there is lots to see, do and learn at Stirley Community Farm.”
The open day provided a glimpse of how food is grown, how farming can be sustainable and the chance to meet farmers.
