A PUB and its neighbours have reached a compromise over the venue’s later opening hours.

The Golden Cock, Farnley Tyas, had hoped to extend its opening times by an hour each night, including a 2.30am finish on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

But some neighbours in the village had filed their objections to the application to Kirklees Council by the pub’s owner, Punch Taverns.

But a deal was struck between Punch Taverns and Farnley Tyas residents before a Kirklees Licensing Panel hearing began yesterday.

The deal, which will allow the pub to stay open 30 minutes longer on all days, was ratified by the panel.

The pub, which will also be renamed The Farnley Cock, will be allowed to play live music as long as the instruments are not amplified.

The venue will also be allowed to serve alcohol and refreshments up to 30 minutes before closing time.

The pub was allowed to sell alcohol until 1am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and midnight the rest of the week, with 30 minutes drinking-up time.
