Fartown man in court accused of serious assault on his wife

A FARTOWN man has appeared in court accused of assaulting his estranged wife.

Edward O’Toole, of Peridot Fold, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday. He is alleged to have assaulted Norah O’Toole, occasioning her actual bodily harm, on May 19.

Mr O’Toole, 47, denies the charge and was committed to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court.

His bail conditions are that he lives and sleeps at his address and does not contact prosecution witnesses. O’Toole was also banned from going within 100 yards of Sheepridge Grove in Sheepridge.

His first appearance at crown court will be on August 13.
