A MAN has been charged with the murder of a 39-year-old woman in Huddersfield’s red light area.

He was detained shortly after Geraldine Brocklehurst was discovered dying from stab wounds in Lower Fitzwilliam Street at 1.30am on Thursday morning.

Police have now revised her age from 39 to 40 and she was living in the Huddersfield area. She was known on the streets as Gez.

And they have also revised the accused man’s age down to 22 from 23.

He comes from Fartown and was due before Huddersfield Magistrates today.

The investigation is beingcarried out by detectives from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide And Major Enquiry Team.

Immediately after she was found a massive area was cordoned off by police including the Great Northern Retail Park and the Phoenix Retail Park, where PC World is based, along with Lower Fitzwilliam Street and part of Great Northern Street.
