A FATHER found dead in his car from carbon monoxide poisoning took his own life.

Simon Forrest, 44 – father of an eight-year-old son – was found in the passenger seat of his car on Marsden Lane in Marsden on May 22 this year. The engine was still running and an extension lead was fed through the rear passenger window.

The inquest into his death at Huddersfield Coroner’s Court yesterday revealed that Mr Forrest, of Pole Gate, Scammonden, had a history of depression and that this wasn’t the first time he had attempted to take his life.

He had previously taken an overdose of paracetamol.

The post mortem revealed he was more than twice over the legal limit to drive when his body was found.

Coroner Roger Whittaker, said: “It is clear Simon had the intention to take his own life and I am satisfied he died by carbon monoxide poisoning fed through his car.”
