FAY Hanson made a winning return to karate – six months after giving birth.

Fay, who married Kirkburton Karate Club instructor Colin in June, gave birth to Alfie six months ago and left the sport.

But she continued training and returned to winning ways at the British Institute of Karate Organisation contest in Northampton.

She was competing alongside her twin sister Nina Wheatley and the girls ended up contesting the finals of both kata and kumite sections.

Fay won both, with Nina taking the silvers.

The Kirkburton club also celebrated other victories, with awards going to Linus Rushworth, Jake Newton, Frankie Liebmann and Emma Gantley in the youth sections.

Chris Gillings and Chris Liebmann took awards in the men’s section while other lady winners included Becky Liebmann and Kirstie Hanson.
