THEY’RE certainly enjoying their football at FC Railway this season!

So much so that the Berry Brow side have already amassed the same number of points as they totalled last year – and it’s only November.

They boast a 100% record and picked up their fifth win in five at Stag, but not without a fight.

Stag raced into a 3-1 lead in Saturday’s game thanks to goals from Sykes (2) and Wain.

But Railway hit back to make it 3-2 before the break and took complete control in the second half running out 7-4 winners.

Their goals came from Jeffrey (2), Hawkyard, Redmile, Langfield, Jamie Mallinson and Ben Mallinson.

The victory leaves Railway tucked in behind Division II leaders Moldgreen, a point behind but with two games in hand.

The win delighted Railway player and secretary Greg Clarke.

He said: “It has been a good start to the season although we did not play particularly well in Saturday’s game.

“Five wins in five games speaks for itself but the pleasing thing is that last year, our first season, we never got going until after Christmas.

“This year we have started really well and it is with pretty much the same team.

“We had a few very young players in last season and they have moved on and now all the players we have are keen to impress given the chance.

“We have only one player older than 30 so it is still a young side.

“We are also sharing out the goals, which is pleasing to see. So far seven of the players have been on the scoresheet as we have scored 29 goals in the five matches.”

Moldgreen kept their lead at the top courtesy of a late, late winner at Berry Brow.

The visitors were 2-0 up in just 25 minutes through Smith and Scarfe, but Brow hit back with a penalty from Danny Wilkinson and a goal from Walsh to level the game at 2-2.

Smith grabbed the winner with just five minutes remaining.

League new boys Netherton enjoyed a good 4-1 win at Upperthong.

They won thanks to goals from Slingsby, Hussein, Lambert and Greenwood.

And there was an excellent 7-2 win for Ireti Athletic over Uppermill Reserves.

It was the club’s biggest victory and came through goals from Poskett (3), Verity (2), Cope and Peace.
