A LAST-DITCH appeal by a developer led to a controversial Holmfirth housing plan getting the go-ahead.

Councillors looked set to defer the plans by Ben Bailey Partnerships for planning permission to construct 48 homes at the Fearnought Works site next to Holmfirth Police Station on Huddersfield Road.

Residents Anne and Gerald Danby told a meeting of the planning sub-committee of concerns about the consultation and also said diggers were already on site.

But applicant Warren Thompson, on behalf of Ben Bailey Partnerships, said any work being carried out was merely of a surveying nature.
