POLICE were today growing increasingly concerned over the safety of a 22-year- old Hull woman who went missing on Valentine's Day.

Joanne Nelson was last seen by her boyfriend at their home in the city after they exchanged Valentine's cards. The Job Centre worker subsequently failed to turn up for work.

Joanne's distraught boyfriend broke down in tears on TV as he appealed for her to get in touch.

Paul Dyson said yesterday: "I just love her. I just want her back. She's always smiling."

He left her in bed while he went to work at 6.30am and has not seen or heard from her since.

According to police, family members have checked with friends and relatives and tried contacting Joanne on her mobile telephone.

Detective Superintendent Ray Higgins said: "We have got some real concerns that Joanne may have come to some harm."

He said Joanne's Renault Clio car, which was still parked on Hotham Road North where she lives, had been found unlocked and was now undergoing forensic tests.

There had been no movement on her mobile phone or bank account.

The detective added that Joanne's boy- friend, who also left her a ring on Valentine's Day, was not being treated as a suspect.

Joanne is white, slim and about 5ft 5in tall with light-blonde hair which hangs just below her shoulders. She has blue eyes.

It is believed she may be wearing a long white jacket.
