A SECOND man accused of attacking Brighouse father-of-two Sean Ellis has been released from custody after a successful bail application.

Mr Ellis was left fighting for his life after he was attacked near his home in the town last month.

The 35-year-old suffered a fractured skull after being hit over the head during a disturbance in Smith House Avenue.

On Thursday Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC heard submissions in chambers about the case and agreed to grant bail to Aaron Eccleston, 24, of Tile Terrace, Brighouse.

Yesterday his co-accused Scott Mitchell, 24, of Marion Street, Brighouse, was also granted conditional bail.

Both men have been charged with an offence of wounding Mr Ellis with intent.

The two defendants are due to attend a plea and case management hearing on November 3 and a provisional trial date has been fixed for February 1 next year.
