THORNTON Lodge youngsters have been celebrating the Muslim festival of Ramadan with cookery lessons.
Girls involved in the Young Voice activity project for Thornton Lodge and Crosland Moor took part.
Young Voice - set up last year - has separate groups for boys and offers activities such as rock climbing, ice skating and cookery.
Usually, the girls would take their finished cookery projects home.
But because the holy month of Ramadan started six days ago, they decided to give their food to mosques.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast during daylight hours.
Sofia Buncy, co-ordinator for Young Voice, said:
"The girls were not all from Muslim backgrounds.
"It was nice to show they all understand the message of Ramadan."
