A LINDLEY church was bursting with beauty and sound at the weekend.

The Flora and Gloria festival of flowers and music was held at St Stephen’s Church.

The weekend-long event kicked off in style with a gala opening night on Friday, featuring music from Outlane Singers.

On Saturday and Sunday there were floral arrangements and musical entertainment.

The flowers aimed to represent the life of the church and all its links with the community.

Visitors got the chance to experience the expert flower arranging, together with music and poetry.

There was an evening performance of Trial by Jury from Leeds Guild of Singers on the Saturday night.

The event formed part of the church’s Building for Our Future project, which was launched last September.

Funds raised by the church will go towards the repair and development needed to keep the building thriving.

Rev Rachel Firth said that it was the church’s first festival of music and flowers in 10 years.

“Lindley is a vibrant community – a great place to live and a great place to visit.

“There’s culture, sport and fun for all ages and for us at St Stephen’s it’s great to be a part of it with the beauty of flowers and music.”
