ALE fans were in for a treat at the weekend when a popular annual beer festival was staged in Holmfirth.

A massive 50 locally-produced beers were on offer at the two-day event, held at The Nook pub.

Hundreds of people flocked to take part in the festival to try out the huge variety of tipples, which included a selection of light and dark beers.

The festival had an Olympic feel to coincide with the weekend’s closing ceremony.

One-off drinks in honour of the games were on offer and gold, silver and bronze awards were given to the most popular beers.

Punters also enjoyed live music provided by bands from all over Yorkshire.

Sheila Sutton from the pub said: “As always it was a big success and everyone had a great time. We were sold out by Sunday night– we had 700 glasses and they were all used at least once.”
