NEEDY families have been given a Christmas boost - thanks to the generosity of kind-hearted customers at a travel firm.

Dozens of toys and gifts will be donated to Huddersfield youngsters through the National Children's Centre, which was helped by an appeal at Travelcare, at John William Street.

The travel agents asked customers to donate unwanted toys to the branch earlier this year to help families who could not otherwise afford gifts this Christmas.

Assistant manager Kim Sykes said the response had been overwhelming.

She said: "We do it every year but we have had a much bigger response this year. We have got about eight bin bags full of toys.

"We have had some lovely things. We did really well.

"We want to say a big thank you to everybody for their support."
