EVENTS to get families in the festive spirit are being staged in Greenhead Park.

This Sunday there will be a carol concert with music from the Huddersfield Youth Brass Ensemble. The event kicks off at 2pm and has been organised by the Friends of Greenhead Park and Marsh Forum.

There will be a collection in aid of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. The miniature railway will be running its ever popular Santa Specials each weekend running up to Christmas from 1.30pm to 4pm, weather permitting.

As well as riding on the train, children can visit Santa in his grotto.

Pre-school children can also enjoy Christmas craft activities in the park Community Room.

These free sessions take place on December 19 and 20 from 10am until noon. Finally, there will be a special run in the park on Christmas Day. Parkrun’s regular 5k timed runs around the park are now attracting over 100 runners each week. For more information contact huddersfieldoffice@parkrun.com
