KIRKLEES is promoting filming in the district.

Council leader Clr Mehboob Khan this week signed an agreement with Screen Yorkshire to encourage TV and film companies to work in the area.

The council has committed to helping any film-makers who wish to work in Kirklees, while Screen Yorkshire will encourage them to be responsible and courteous when working with the council, businesses and the public.

The area has received great publicity and was put in the national spotlight through the filming of Last Of The Summer Wine throughout the Holme Valley and Marsden and there has been Sunday evening ITV drama Where The Heart Is, based in Slaithwaite and the Colne Valley.
