A KEY Huddersfield health boss has moved to a new position.
Mark Brearley had been finance director at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust which is responsible for Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.
He has been named the new chief executive of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust which covers Blackburn and Burnley.
Calderdale and Huddersfield chief executive Diane Whittingham has also been interim leader of East Lancashire Trust since August 2009.
Mr Brearley was born in Oldham and started working for the NHS in 1981.
He has been a board director since 1989 and was director of finance at Leicester General Hospital NHS Trust between 1992 and 1997.
Last year the Examiner reported that Mr Brearley’s salary had risen from £110,000 in 2006/07 to £135,000 in 2008/09 – a jump of 22% in two years.
He is expected to earn £165,000 a year in his new position with East Lancashire Trust.
