IT was a fine day for a Fairtrade picnic.

The sun was out as High Bank First School pupils tucked into Fairtrade treats at Huddersfield University.

They were invited along by Lisa Hargreaves, sustainable travel co-ordinator in the estates department, to learn more about the benefits of Fairtrade.

The theme of the day was chocolate, so the Year 6 children from the Liversedge school watched a video on chocolate making.

They also took part in a Fairtrade treasure hunt, quiz and word puzzle – with lots of tasty prizes.

Lisa said: “We are a Fairtrade uni and we are always looking to raise awareness for those visiting us.

“It went really well – one of the children said they thought it was absolutely awesome.”
