A CAR salesman has been caught driving without insurance.

Otis Edmead was convicted in his absence of three offences relating to an incident on January 15.

Edmead, 22, was found guilty of driving a vehicle without insurance, driving a vehicle without a test certificate and failing to produce documents when required to do so.

Edmead, of New Laithe Road, Newsome, was stopped by police on January 15 at Wakefield Road.

Appearing before Hudd-ersfield magistrates for sentencing yesterday, Edmead said his insurance had run out that day.

He said: “I forgot and a lot of time passed and it has come to this now.”

Magistrates imposed eight penalty points on his licence, fined him £130 and ordered him to pay court costs of £40 and a £15 victim surcharge.
