A CHEF was taken to hospital after getting his arm stuck in the dough machine at a pizza takeaway.
Fire crews were called out to help with the drama at Pizza Italiano in Paddock at around 10pm on Wednesday night.
On arrival they found that 24-year-old owner Adeel Nawaz had got his arm stuck between the machine drum and the base in a freak accident while cleaning the machine.
It is thought the motor had somehow set off during the process and dragged his arm into the mechanism.
His brother, 34-year-old Qadir Hussain, said Adeel must have used the machine “a million times’’ and never had a problem before.
He said the machine was squeezing his forearm so hard it was causing Adeel great pain and also stopping his blood supply.
Huddersfield firefighters forced the drum away from his arm.
Once freed, he was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he underwent medical checks including an X-ray before he was allowed home at around 12.30pm.
Qadir said: “They showed that nothing was broken, only badly bruised and he has been given painkillers. He is now recovering at home.
“He was certainly very lucky. His arm was trapped for around 15 minutes in all.”
He said Adeel had owned the business on Church Street in Paddock for around six years.
Both brothers live in Paddock.
