A PETROL station and shop is due to re-open next week after it was forced to close after a fire.

The BP garage and Co-operative Food shop at Lockwood Road, Lockwood, has been closed since September 22.

It was forced to shut after fire broke out in the shop.

The incident started in a cupboard as the result of an electrical fault.

Crews from Huddersfield fire station managed to put it out before it spread to the forecourt.

A spokesman for the Co-operative said: “The shop and petrol station is scheduled to re-open early next week following the fire.

“The store has been refurbished and rewired.

“We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused by the closure and thank them for their patience.”
