A HUDDERSFIELD firefighter who lost his sister to ovarian cancer has walked the Pennine Way to raise cash for charity.

Green Watch firefighter Mark Colley set off on April 23, for 12 days in memory of his sister Alison who died in 2010.

Mark was accompanied on his trip for three days by Elland firefighter Phil Purdy.

The pair have been helped in their training by Shirley Howe who is opening a new gym on Quay Street off Leeds Road.

Mark said: “We set out to walk the Pennine Way taking in some 270 miles starting at Edale through the Peak District National Park along the Pennine ridge through the Yorkshire Dales up into Northumberland across the Cheviots and then down into the Scottish Borders finishing in Kirk Yetholm.

“We want to do everything we can to help those suffering from this terrible cancer.”

Money raised will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Action.
