FIREFIGHTERS were called following an oven fire caused by a neglected roast dinner.

Two crews from Huddersfield Fire Station were called to a house in Brow Road, Paddock, at just before 10pm on Saturday.

Fat poured over a beef joint got too hot and caught fire.

The occupant had been distracted loading his van up at the time.

He managed to put the flames out before calling firefighters to deal with the smoke.

They used positive pressure ventilation fans to clear the smoke.
