Fire crews had to give first aid until paramedics arrived after a car careered out of control and crashed in Liversedge.

The male driver was unhurt, but a woman passenger suffered head injuries when she hit the windscreen and also complained of leg pain.

Police were already at the scene in Norristhorpe Lane on Friday evening when firefighters arrived to find the driver had apparently lost control of the car and hit a wall.

A fire service spokesman at Cleckheaton said: “We administered care until an ambulance arrived.”

Crews also had to mop up oil from the road as the impact broke the car’s oil sump.

“We had to make the vehicle safe, protect nearby drains and absorb the oil,” the spokesman added.

The car did not catch fire and no other vehicle was involved.
