A PAIR of horses were rescued from a barn blaze at a farm.

Firefighters from Batley were called to the fire at block of stables at Moat Hill Farm Drive, Birstall, at 4.40pm yesterday.

The crew found a large amount of straw had been set on fire, trapping the two horses in an adjoining stable.

Firefighters led the horses into a nearby paddock and extinguished the flames before any damage to the structure of the stable occurred.

Officers are now investigating the possibility the blaze was started deliberately.
