A FIREFIGHTER turned detective when he caught a thief at his fire station.
He caught the 19-year-old burglar stealing cash from the canteen at his station in Carlinghow Lane, Batley.
The cheeky thief had sneaked into the fire station at about 9.50am yesterday when firefighters were answering an emergency call and the roller door shutters to the premises had not quite closed.
But he was disturbed by a firefighter who chased and detained him until police arrived.
A police spokesman said a 19-year-old local man had been arrested and bailed to return to the police station this week.
