MORE firms in this region expect to take on workers, says a survey.
Employers in the Yorkshire and Humberside region are confident of hiring more workers in the second quarter of the year, says Manpower, a workforce management company.
The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey shows that the number of employers who say they will take on more staff is growing.
Jason Greaves, Manpower's regional manager, said: "There's a definite feeling of optimism in Yorkshire and Humberside, although employers are still being cautious and growth is steady.
"We've seen an increase in permanent placements, which is a good indicator of business confidence in the area," he added.
"The financial sector is particularly strong at the moment, with a growing number of permanent and temporary positions."
Mr Greaves went on: "We are also seeing positive signs in the food manufacturing industry, with forecasts for a good summer. This is a growth area in the region.
"At the same time, we've noted a slight decline in optimism in the call centre market, which has been growing very strongly recently," he said.
