WILBERLEE Junior and Infant School has claimed its first victory in 10 years at an annual football tournament.

Every year, teams of seven players from five small junior and infant schools battle it out in a tournament.

The schools are Wilberlee at Slaithwaite, Clough Head at Bolster Moor, Helme, Scapegoat Hill and Wellhouse at Golcar.

This year's tournament was at Clough Head. Each team played four matches.

Wilberlee won three matches and drew one.

Head teacher Richard Bottom said: "It is the first time we have ever won it, so we are very excited. The team was made up of Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils, like most of the other teams. Some had girls playing, but ours was all boys."
