HUNDREDS of fish have been re-homed in a major salvage operation, after a pond was drained for routine maintenance.
Slaithwaite and District Angling Club and the Environment Agency helped transfer perch and roach from an overflow dam at Pinfold Dam, off Fountain Grove, Milnsbridge.
The fish were moved to the main Pinfold Dam, used by the angling club.
The overflow was drained by SKA Property Management, St Thomas Road.
SKA financial director Glenn Devons said: “We’re checking the lining for leaking and damage. It’s a routine procedure we do to prevent things like potential flooding or landslides.
“We’ve no plans to build on it at all.” The fish will be returned afterwards.
