IT was a special Mother’s Day for five generations of one family.

May Dwyer, 87, received a visit not only from her own daughter, but also her granddaughter, her great-granddaughter, and her great, great-granddaughter.

All five generations of the Dwyer family got together in Golcar, which grandmother of the family Kath Harris described as a great occasion.

She joined her mother May, her daughter Karen Bates, 44, her granddaughter Kirsty Bates, 24, and little Layla, 21 months.

The 63-year-old of Golcar said: “Getting us all together in one place at the same time isn’t easy with so many people to arrange.

“We all go down and visit mum and it was nice we were all there to see her on Mother’s Day too.”

Before little Layla was born, the family knew they were going to become a five generation family of women.

Kath added: “We knew Kirsty was going to have a girl and were all excited.

“It’s lovely, especially for mum who was over the moon to have a great, great-granddaughter.

“I don’t think it’s too bad for the men in the family, although my grandson Richard might say differently,” she joked.
