AN icicle measuring more than 3ft long attracted attention from passers-by at the Fixby home of Giovanni and Maria Zottola as temperatures hovered around freezing yesterday.

The couple’s granddaughter, Stephanie, is pictured seeing how the icicle measures up – while taking care not to break it.

The icicle formed from the window ledge above the porch at the Zottola’s house at Prestwich Drive during the course of the weekend and Monday’s freezing temperatures.

Maria said: “Everyone who comes past the house has been stopping to take photographs on their mobile phones.”

The Zottola’s icicle may be around for a couple of days. The cold weather is expected to last until the weekend with occasional light snow.

But Saturday could bring milder weather and even rain.
