A CAR found on fire began rolling down a road in Huddersfield.

Police are investigating the incident in St Stephen’s Road, Lockwood, yesterday morning.

A passer-by found the Ford Fiesta in flames at 9am and called 999.

The car, which had been left parked, started to roll down the hill as a fire engine arrived at the scene.

Huddersfield fire crew commander Eddy Beaumont said: “It was parked on a slope, which meant it had just started to roll when we arrived.

“Luckily it had only moved about six feet and we managed to chock the vehicle and make it secure.

“We do not know who the owner of the car is and police are doing further investigations into the incident.”

One crew from Huddersfield attended and put out the fire within five minutes.
