A DISUSED mill is to be turned into more than 30 flats.

Hollyns Mill in Greetland will be converted after Calderdale Council and the developers reach agreement on having more affordable flats in the scheme.

The Rochdale Road mill, which has been empty for two years, will have 37 flats and 49 parking spaces.

A Calderdale spokes- man said the plan had been approved and, once agreement on more affordable homes had been signed, full planning permission would be given.

Fan Systems, an engineering firm based behind the mill, objected to the scheme.

The firm said they would have to test fans outside and could cause a noise nuisance to people in the flats.

But councillors said that if proper soundproofing was installed the noise should not be a problem.

A single-storey building that connects the three and four-storey mill will be built up to the height of the main buildings, to form the stairway.

The flats will have covered balconies facing away from Rochdale Road. A shed will be demolished for parking.
